artist/designer
From a young age, I have explored various artistic mediums, evolving from realism in oil to the organic intricacies of natural elements, the beauty of ice, and the possibilities of mixed media. My graphic design background instilled rhythm and discipline while inspiring me to seek my own order in the complexities of shapes and spaces.
My artistic practice is a meditative journey—a dance of instinct and balance. My work spans the universe, from microorganisms in our bodies and soil to galaxies, roots, cloud formations, and the flora and fauna that shape our landscapes. I oscillate between minimalism and maximalism, finding beauty in both simplicity and detail. By embracing a minimalist approach, I invite viewers to focus on relationships between objects—their juxtapositions and intersections. My voice moves between painterly richness and graphic austerity, each piece exploring form and structure.
My journey evolved from creating felt compositions on paper to discovering compositions in nature, and ultimately to crafting large-scale, detailed digital works. I am drawn to the interplay of light and dark, reflecting the contrasts in our dynamic universe. I celebrate the fabric of egos while striving for a unity of souls, believing that in life, there is purpose, and no line is divided.
Influenced by artists like Roni Horn, Gerhard Richter, Mark Rothko, Andrew Wyeth, Andy Goldsworthy, Dennis Beach, and Li Edelkoort, I aim to capture the essence of each subject. Currently, I am immersed in a new landscape, where the open expanse of land, sea, and sky contrasts sharply with the cityscapes I knew, shaping a new voice deeply influenced by the surrounding beauty.
I am fascinated by the interconnectedness of life. The roots of trees, resembling the human nervous system, captivate me with their silent communication. River branches, Chladni plate formations, symmetry, fractals, sound waves, spirals, natural tessellation, the arch of a flower, the nuance of a face, and the interior of a home all resonate deeply with my vision, reflecting the order and complexity of existence. Each plant, human, animal, and landscape reflects a unique identity and story. This sense of community and individuality is a recurring theme, highlighting our place in a larger, interconnected system.
In my work and life, I am drawn to the complexities and nuances of our world. I love losing myself in a piece, guided by instinct and contemplation. Reflecting on nature and the broader world, I see a symphony of complexity, where shadows and highlights create a tapestry of movement, echoing the complexity and order in human interaction. My compositions are intended as a labyrinth—a reflective journey through a meditative space to contemplate challenges and celebrate triumphs.
Through my art, I strive to connect humanity through our shared complexities, emphasizing our interconnectedness. Each piece invites viewers to explore this, finding wonder in both the unique and the universal. I aspire to create works that resonate deeply, fostering a greater appreciation for our intricate and beautiful world, inspiring wonder, and highlighting the profound connections that bind us all.
